With October just around the corner start marking your calendar for October 20th - that is when we find out if the little person in me is a boy or girl. Tim and I are currently taking bets - we have decided that the baby is a boy! I guess we will find out.
This week I went to my 14 week check up and they told me that they were going to listen to the heartbeat. I was like "back it up....what???" HAHA. I asked if I could call Tim and put him on speakerphone and they said it's fine. I called Tim, put him on speakerphone and then off they went. If you have talked to me last week or the day before you know how terrified that I was about my appointment, it was a mixture of not knowing what to expect and just knowing I was going alone. So being able to hear our baby's heartbeat was a blessing because it would either be good news or bad. The nurse started from the lower left side of my abdomen and just heard my heartbeat so she moved slowly right, still my heartbeat and then finally like Christmas Bells I heard the baby's heartbeat. It was really fast and loud. The nurse held up the monitor to my phone while Tim and listened for maybe 20 seconds. It was the most amazing 20 seconds, words cannot explain when you hear your baby's heartbeat. Just knowing that he/she was alive and beating fast is such a blessing and relief. The nurse told me the heartbeat was 160 beats per minute. Now, since then and telling people we have heard that since the heartbeat is high that we are having a girl so, I worked a little google magic and came up with this: To conduct the this old wives take you simply take your baby's heartrate in beats per minute (bpm) using a doppler or fetoscope and look at the chart:
Over 140 = girl Under 140 = boy I guess we will find out soon enough. Girl or boy we will be pleased either way.
Well we have a lot of stuff coming up in October and the rest of this week. Robert's birthday party is on Friday and I have a hair appointment on Saturday so lots to look forward too.
See ya!! Thanks for reading.
